Heather Rollinson is a dedicated healthcare advocate, educator, and entrepreneur committed to improving maternal health outcomes, particularly in underserved communities. As the Founder and CEO of In My Mother’s Womb LLC, Heather offers holistic maternal care by addressing the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of birthing families. Inspired by her late mother’s work as a healthcare advocate, Heather has turned her personal challenges into a mission to drive transformative change in maternal health.
Heather authored The War on the Black Womb, a powerful blend of personal stories, research, and historical analysis that highlights the alarming maternal morbidity and mortality rates among Black women. Her work serves as a call to action, urging policymakers and healthcare providers to prioritize equity and systemic reform.
With a diverse background spanning education, policy, and product development, Heather has held leadership positions in organizations such as The Florida State Senate, Healthy Start Coalition, and Duval County Public Schools. Her commitment to healthcare advocacy extends to her role as Director of Policy and Research for the Liam Lives Foundation, where she works to shape policies that improve maternal and infant health outcomes.
Heather’s impact extends beyond policy. As the Founder of MD Womb Academy, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering teen girls through community health education, she nurtures the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Additionally, she is a Regional Educator for the National Black Doula Association (NBDA), supporting and training doulas in Florida and South Carolina to address disparities in maternal care.
In her new role as Director of Programs for Girls Inc. Jacksonville, Heather continues to empower young girls through mentorship, education, and leadership development. She also serves on the National Board of Directors for SISTUHS, Incorporated, promoting the spiritual, educational, and cultural development of young Black women.
Heather’s passion for community empowerment extends to her work as Director of Community Outreach for Jones and Rose Skincare, where she promotes STEM initiatives and healthy beauty habits. In this role, she bridges the gap between science and beauty, inspiring young women to explore careers in STEM while encouraging them to embrace self-care and confidence.
Her dedication to healthcare transcends borders. Through her work with the International American Medical Mission (IAMM), Heather provides free medical services to families globally, bringing critical healthcare to communities in need.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Heather was honored as one of Legacy Magazine's Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Business & Industry of 2024, a testament to her leadership and impact in the field of healthcare and community empowerment.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University, a Master’s in Healthcare Management (MBA), and is currently pursuing a nursing degree with aspirations of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife. Rooted in her faith, she also serves as the Young Adult Ministry Leader at St. Paul AME Jacksonville, mentoring young adults and inspiring them to lead in their communities.
